Vesta Rowing Club

Vesta Rowing Club, founded in 1870, has a unique story behind its name. At the club's inaugural meeting, members decided to name the club after the first boat to pass under London Bridge. As fate would have it, the first boat to pass was a steam tug named Vesta, so the club was christened.

The club’s first home was Salters Boathouse, part of the Feathers Pub on the Wandle, a river flowing into the Tideway just west of Wandsworth Bridge. In 1875, the club relocated to the Unity boathouse, now the Ranelagh Sailing Club. Finally, in 1890, Vesta Rowing Club settled into its current clubhouse next door.

Thames Rowing Club

Founded in 1860, Thames Rowing Club has a rich history in rowing. As of July 2023, the club has achieved an impressive 88 event wins at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta.

Thames is also one of the founding members of the Remenham Club, a social club for rowers, which boasts a clubhouse and grounds along the Henley Royal Regatta course. The club plays a significant role in the rowing community, hosting Cambridge University Women's Boat Club for their winter Tideway training ahead of the Women's Boat Race. Thames Rowing Club serves as the Boat Race's media centre and administrative hub on race day.
