The White Swan

The White Swan

Nestled within the enchanting enclave of Old Palace Lane, cosily adjacent to a row of cottages, sits a true gem. With an air of secluded rural discovery, this establishment exudes the warmth of a quintessential village local.

It might not wear the wrinkles of age like some of Richmond's more ancient pubs, but the White Swan carries a heritage all its own. Its foundations were laid in 1810, a new addition to the local landscape; it was smaller than it is now. It wasn't until 1850 that it embraced the name "White Swan," then, in 1861, it proudly received its inaugural license. The Richmond and Twickenham Times noted its popularity among fishermen, ferrymen, and other souls drawn to its charm.

1963 brought about change as the pub stretched its arms into the neighbouring cottage, a bold move that spoke of its enduring vitality. Courage, a name that carries a legacy in the world of pubs, held the reins during this chapter.

Let's not forget the secret Garden tucked at the rear – a pocket of tranquillity that is a delightful backdrop for tales and tipples.

The journey of time has been kind to this place, and it remains a place of community, history, and a touch of culinary magic—a pub not merely on the map but in the hearts of those who chance upon its doorstep.
