Millbank House

Millbank House

No.1 Millbank, Millbank House, is a collection of buildings constructed from the late 1800s to the 1930s. Designed by W D Caroe, it was used by Parliament as an extension to solve accommodation problems for members, their staff, and the staff of the House until its sale of £65 million in 2005 to the House of Lords. Before this, it was occupied by the Church Commissioners.

Millbank was once marshy land owned by adjacent Westminster Abbey. Sir Robert Grosvenor demolished it in the early 18th century to build a house.

In 2016, architect Purcell Miller Triton began to refurbish the whole building for the House of Lords.
