Harods Village

Harrods Village

The Harrods Furniture Depository buildings sit on the south bank of the River Thames near Hammersmith Bridge in Barnes, London. Originally built in 1894 on an old soap factory site, they were designed to store large items that couldn’t be taken to Harrods' famous Knightsbridge store. The current salmon-pink terracotta buildings, which date from 1914, were designed by architect W.G. Hunt.

Though no longer owned by Harrods, the buildings, now Grade II listed, still retain many of their original external features. In 2000, they were transformed into a luxury residential estate, "Harrods Village," comprising 250 townhouses and penthouse suites. William Hunt Mansions, the main riverfront building, is a notable landmark during the annual Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race between Putney Bridge and Chiswick Bridge.

The buildings also appeared briefly in popular culture, featuring in the Verve's 1997 music video for their hit song *Lucky Man*, which was filmed across the river.
